PARENTING teenagers, it’s all GREEK to me!

Parents can learn from the Greeks about parenting teenagers

Darren Toms Coaching is pleased to announce the launch of a new six week parenting course for parents of teenagers joining Parkstone Grammar School in September 2010.

Parenting and understanding teenagers today can be a hard thing to do successfully. Often the challenges can leave both parents and teenagers feeling unable to understand and communicate effectively. Wishing things will go well is not advised. Instead it's time to take ownership and action.

Darren Toms has adapted his flagship coaching programme [The Choice] to focus on parenting teenagers successfully. The Choice Coaching Programme is heavily influenced by some the great Greek Philosophers, including Socrates, Plato and Epicurus, as well as using modern techniques from Neuro Linguistic Programming and Coaching (NLP).

The Choice Coaching Programme is divided into five Philosophies. Each one is designed to bring awareness of how parents can be flexible in their own behaviour and realise that what bought them success as parent yesterday will not work tomorrow.

There is not one single way to parent a teenager successfully, as all teenagers are different, but taking time to explore what you need to do is essential if you are going to enjoy the teenager years and beyond.

“You can't change teenagers by shouting, moaning or nagging them. You have to change yourself and your own approach. The Choice Coaching Programme shows how parents can keep calm, reduce stress and enjoy those teenage years,” said Founder of The Choice Coaching programme Darren Toms.

The course starts in September 2010 and is runs for six weeks on Monday nights at Parkstone Grammar School, Poole. The cost is £10 per person.
