What inspired
The Choice?
The Choice
was created after two separate but equally inspirational meetings with the British Disabled Ski Team and Dr Janet Gray.
Listening
to them speak about the things that had happened to them in their life would be enough for some people to hide away from the
world and believe they couldn't achieve anything.
The British Disabled Ski
Team had people who hurtled down a mountain on skis yet either had limbs missing or were completely unable to see.
Dr Janet Gray
was an ordinary person who at the age of 21 lost her eyesight. At this point she had to make a choice. Change everything in
her life and feel helpless and sorry for herself and believe that was it, or she could learn to waterski (having never done
it before) and go on to become world champion (breaking virtually every bone in her body along the way)
Interestingly
she chose the second option.
Both the British Disabled Ski Team and Dr Janet Gray realised that,
"It's not what happens to
you, it's how you deal with what happens that matters"
The
Choice was created after realising that many people really started living happy lives and achieved what they
wanted as a direct result of a life changing event. Instead of moaning about what had happened and getting upset with
it, they came to terms with it and went out and took on the world, making the best of what they did have instead of focusing
on what they didn't have.
My question to people is why wait? Why wait until
something like these events happen before you really start to live? Why not live the life you want and be happy now, whilst
you have what you have today?
All it takes is a slight shift in the way you think,
because the way you think has a direct impact on your own attitude and behaviours.
